So, AI, that’s all you hear about lately but what does that actually mean for the everyday person? I mean, isn’t that just for the Silicon Valley crowd?
Everywhere you look, you’re hearing about AI but if you’re not tech savvy or integrated in the tech space, how can you use AI to make everyday tasks more efficient or easier?
I’m not particularly immersed in technology and like many ‘average’ people, want to take advantage of this revolutionary shift in my daily life. When I start to think about it, it’s overwhelming! Do I have to understand algorithms? Am I supposed to start writing code? What about a supercomputer, do I need one of those too?? I can feel my anxiety creeping up as I’m writing this!
The truth is, you (and I) are already using AI and may not realize it. Do you use GPS way finding apps? Those are AI!! They find you the best, fastest route based on traffic volumes. What about the suggestions from Netflix or Spotify? Also AI, based on movies, music, podcasts etc. you’ve watched or listened to that are similar. Even your Alexa smart speaker or Google Home is based on this technology.
Ok, I can hear people out there saying “but how can I use this today”? Well, here, try this, maybe you have a bunch of stuff in your fridge and pantry that needs to be used up but have no idea what to do with it. I mean, everyone hates coming up with ideas on what to make for dinner right? If you haven’t already, download ChatGPT or use Microsoft 365 Copilot then take all of the stuff you want to use up and enter it in the search, and BAM, dinner solved! I also tried this with some random craft supplies I had lying around, and it gave me suggestions, I even asked to show images so I could get an idea of what these crafts would look like. It was magic!
Need a polished, professional headshot for work, LinkedIn, or your social media profiles? AI-powered services, like Instaheadshots, can transform a selfie into a high-quality image that rivals professional photography – saving you time and money
AI is also helpful for crafting emails. If you’re struggling to find the right words or want to ensure your message is both professional and approachable, AI can assist. I’ll draft an email, then ask an AI tool to ‘rewrite this to sound more friendly,’ for example. From there I’ll make a few tweaks, it provides a great starting point and saves a lot of effort.
AI doesn’t have to be overwhelming or scary, it can be a lot of fun and help save time and energy. Ultimately, it’s about making your day-to-day a bit smoother. From figuring out dinner to assisting with an email, these tools are designed to give you back more time for the things you actually want to do.
